The role of the Household Goods Driver – San Antonio is a commercial van operator, operating over the road and locally.  The position provides superior service to our customers and safely prepares for move and transports their valuables to the correct destinations.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for packing, wrapping and loading household goods or other commodities to prepare for the transportation of the customer’s belongings to their new destination.
  • Must inventory household goods and other commodities identified for transport.
  • Assist with loading and unloading at the residence, commercial or warehouse locations with possible lay over to keep under DOT regulation hours. Always adhere to DOT HOS and guidelines.
  • Participates in and completes all training as required.
  • Practices and reinforces superior customer service skills by providing courteous and efficient service to all customers.
  • Ensures personal compliance with safety codes and polices on vehicle preventive maintenance schedules and repair of company vehicles are being performed and adhered to.
  • Performs vehicle and trailer inspections as required.
  • Completes all necessary logs, electronically and manually, as needed, and submits to appropriate management by required timeframes.
  • Maintain and contribute to a safe work environment by adhering to policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Safety Program.
  • Perform any other task or assignment as deemed necessary by the organization.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Must be at least 25 years old
  • Must be eligible to be employed in the United States
  • Must speak, read and write English fluently
  • Must be physically able to perform all duties of the position – DOT physical
  • Must conform to all DOT regulations including hours of service and log book procedures,
  • Must have a clear drug screen, clear background check and need to be able to gain access to Military bases – No convictions in last 7 years.
  • No moving violations in the last 2 years
  • Verifiable job/school history for 10 years.
  • Must possess a current, valid commercial driver’s (Class A) license.
  • Must successfully complete a driver’s road test
  • Must be able to be certified by United Van Lines safety department
  • Preferred experience in Household Goods packing, loading and transportation
  • Hazardous Materials certification a plus
